This study aims to explore the complexity and variability of grandparent-grandchild relationships, with a particular focus on the role of age, social context and cultural factors. The traditional role of grandparents in the family has undergone significant change over the years, particularly due to nuclear family forms and social change. The study reviews different grandparent roles and patterns and their impact on grandchildren's lives and development. Empirical research and international data suggest that close grandparent-grandchild relationships have a positive impact on the emotional, social and psychological well-being of both parties. However, as grandchildren grow up and develop their own lives, the nature and frequency of these relationships may change, but grandparents still remain important supports in their lives. Overall, the study suggests that the range and dynamics of relationships between grandparents and grandchildren have a significant impact on both families and societies as a whole, especially in the rapidly changing modern world.
