PowerApps development to a Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Based Sales Process Management

Abstract

Nowadays, the network-oriented nature of economic life is constantly strengthening. Globalization, computer networks, information systems and their users are increasingly influencing the administrative processes of companies. Cloud-based enterprise management systems will also have a great impact on the management and administration of companies. The established organizational structures and business processes have become so complicated that management needs much more effective information technology assistance than before.

The technology of smartphones and tablets provides new opportunities in the field of company management and controlling, the neglect of which can put the management at a significant competitive disadvantage. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is not only a company management system that can model the various business processes of companies, but the capabilities of this advanced ERP software can be expanded with the help of a suitable additional software optimized for smart or mobile devices.

In this study, I summarize the results of my development of a mobile application that is used to manage work processes characterized by large physical distances. In this study, I will demonstrate how to record a sales order in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central system using a mobile application created in the PowerApps development environment.

Microsoft's PowerApps software package consists of applications, services and connecting responses, as well as a data management platform that provides an easy-to-use (low code) development environment for the creation of individual applications tailored to business needs. Of course, it is necessary to understand the data connection relations, and to connect the database with the corresponding properties of the visual elements of the created application, but it can also be seen from this study that this is much easier to do than the AL code development recommended by the manufacturer for the development of the Dynamics 365 Business Central software package. The study presents the more characteristic theoretical connections of process management, and then presents the software management of an imagined work process developed by me for a mobile device.
